When I was younger, I used to work in a library. In fact, I was a volunteer for years and it then became one of my first jobs.
I love the smell of books. I love looking at the covers and imagining the content of the book based on the design. I love the knowledge and sense of adventure I get from books. I love the opportunity to distract myself in a story that engages all my senses.
On world book day, I want to emphasize the importance of reading to children, of picking up a book and reading it cover to cover, of understanding the history of countries and how we came to be how we are today.
Most importantly, I love the ability to have access to books when so many people in other countries, will never get the chance to.
Make it a point to pick up a book and when you’re done with it, donate it, share it, gift it. Sharing knowledge will only make us love each other more.
