This morning, as I was getting on the metro, I saw these individuals at the National Institutes for Health (NIH), signing outside and letting everyone hear their message on how important it is to trust science and how valuable researchers are.
Not only was this a peaceful protest, but their message was succinct, and their signs were appropriate.
I share all this because I feel it is important for people to exercise their right to freedom of speech, but they must do it in a way that is appropriate.
We all have our passions and things that are so important to us, and we want to have our voices heard, but if not done in the right way, it may be seen as disruptive and confrontational.
My call to action for everyone is to make sure we stand up for what we believe in and make a difference in this world as we have the opportunity to speak up for those that don’t have a voice and remember, to find something beautiful everyday.
