Adventures with Nurse Jamla

The Eighth Day of Ramadan

Nurse Jamla

My religion teaches me to respect women and the work that they do which includes raising children, supporting extended families, and running business.

On International Women’s Day, I want to take this moment to celebrate the incredible women who sacrifice so much so that others may succeed.

I want to recognize my nursing peers who have faced challenges, but continue to advocate on behalf of patients.

To those who “look different” and have to constantly justify their existence, I see you. I understand what you are going through and one day, the rest of the world will see how invaluable you are.

This is also for the women who strive to change the world despite the stigma and resistance from others. May we be as passionate and as dedicated as you are.

To the refugees and immigrants, like my mother, who came to this country for a better life, thank you for your sacrifice.

Lastly, I want to recognize the women who made me who I am today. Without your support, and guidance, and belief in myself, I wouldn’t be this version of myself. Thank you.

My call to action for you all is to take the time today to recognize the incredible work of our international women.
