I have been trying to figure out what I wanted to say when I could finally share this.
I am honored to be a candidate for the Emergency Nurses Association Board of Directors.
If you know me, you know how much emergency nursing and ENA have been part of my life.

I have been an emergency nurse for more than 20 years. I have worked at t
he bedside, responded to disasters, taught nurses and students, conducted research, written and published, presented around the world, and served our profession in more ways than I can probably fit into one post, but some of the things that mean the most to me are much simpler than what is on my CV.
It is the nurse who comes up after a presentation and tells me they finally feel like someone understands what they are dealing with.
It is mentoring someone who is trying to figure out where they belong in emergency nursing.
It is answering the email, volunteering for the committee, showing up for the meeting, helping someone make a connection, sharing an opportunity, or speaking up when I think emergency nurses need a stronger voice.
That is what service has always meant to me.
ENA has given me opportunities to learn, lead, teach, serve, and meet some incredible emergency nurses along the way. I have served at the local, state, national, and international levels, and I have tried to give back to this profession every chance I have had.
I am running for the Board of Directors because I believe I still have more to give.
Emergency nursing is changing. The nurses entering our specialty today are facing a very different environment than the one I entered more than 20 years ago. We need to listen to them. We also need to value the nurses who have spent decades building this profession. We need different perspectives, different experiences, and people who are willing to listen even when the conversation is difficult.
Over the next few wee
ks, I will share more about who I am, what I have done, what I believe in, and why I decided to run, but I also want to hear from YOU.
Connect with me here or on any of my social media platforms. Send me a message. Ask me questions. Tell me what you love about ENA. Tell me what frustrates you. Tell me what you think we could do better. Tell me what you want from the people representing you.
You do not have to know me personally to reach out, and you certainly do not have to agree with me on everything. I would much rather have a conversation.
I am proud to be an emergency nurse. I am proud of the years I have given to this profession and to ENA, and I would be honored to have the opportunity to continue that service as a member of the ENA Board of Directors.
My commitment to emergency nursing did not start with an election, and it will not end with one.
