The Next Generation Service Corps (NGSC), part of ASU’s Public Service Academy at Watts College, is a leadership development program designed to equip undergraduates-regardless of major-with the skills, networks, and experiences to serve across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors
Sitting down with students last night, I was struck by their passion, clarity, and conviction. Sharing conversation around mission-driven work-whether environmental justice, immigration, or civic engagement-was nothing short of inspiring.

Each student brought their unique story forward-balancing academics, family responsibilities, first-time leadership roles-and they embodied what NGSC stands for: adaptive, character-driven changemakers
Meeting these future generations of public servants was one of the most rewarding experiences in my work. Their dedication to service, their warmth and curiosity, and their readiness to step into leadership roles was profoundly moving. It wasn’t just an interview-it felt like a conversation with tomorrow’s changemakers.
If you’re considering NGSC, know this: it’s more than a prestigious scholarship or certificate-it’s a transformative journey into public service, surrounded by a community of people who believe in impact and integrity.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be considered a mentor for the future generation.
