I am so blessed to have made it to the start of another Ramadan. However, I am torn between feeling excited for this holy month and sadness for those around the world that won’t have food to break their fast.
As a Palestinian, I remember listening to the Athan from the local Mosque and my cousins coming over to my grandmother’s house in the village to break their fast. I miss those moments; however, I will forever cherish those memories.
I know I am not alone in feeling “off” this Ramadan, but it is important to remember that even when we feel hopeless, there is something that we can do. We can sit here and talk about how what is happening in the world is affecting us, or we can do something about it.
So, what are YOU going to do about it?
I intend to:
- Give more of myself this Ramadan.
- Make more dua’s.
- Go out of my way to show kindness to others.
- Forgive those who have hurt me.
- Pray that those I have wronged, forgive me.
- Complain less about how tired I am (Alhamdulillah I am tired because I have a job that supports me).
Inshallah you and your family have a blessed start to the holy month of Ramadan.
