One lesson from my career has become very clear:

Emergency nurses belong in the rooms where decisions are being made.

We understand what happens when a plan that looks perfect on paper meets a crowded emergency department.

We understand what happens when staffing is tight, beds are full, patients keep coming, and resources aren’t where they need to be.

We understand preparedness because emergency nurses practice it every single shift.

Throughout my career, I have had opportunities to bring the nursing perspective into conversations about disaster response, public health, education, research, preparedness, and healthcare leadership.

I have worked alongside physicians, paramedics, public health professionals, emergency managers, government leaders, researchers, educators, and healthcare professionals from around the world.

Those experiences taught me something else:

Getting invited into the room isn’t enough.

You have to be willing to speak once you’re there.

If elected to the ENA Board of Directors, I will bring that same philosophy with me.

Listen first.

Ask questions.

Collaborate.

Speak up.

And remember who you are there to represent.

Emergency nurses deserve a strong voice.

I would be honored to help carry that voice forward.
