Pets are family. Yet many families are forced to leave them behind because shelters don’t allow animals without proper planning.
Include your pets in disaster preparedness:
- Pack 3 days of food, water, and medications.
- Bring leashes, collars, and carriers.
- Keep vaccination records handy.
- Identify pet-friendly shelters and hotels in advance.
During Hurricane Katrina, thousands of pets were abandoned. Today, many shelters are pet-inclusive, but only if you bring the necessary supplies.
