I was talking to a colleague today about austere medicine. I was so impressed to learn about the work he is doing and how that translates to the civilian world.

We can learn so much from our uniformed service members and it is time that we take an active role in collaborating. So much of our advancements in trauma come from lessons learned during war.

When was the last time you went off the grid without any cell service? Do you know how to start a fire without scraps you find around you? What if a disaster hit and you had to?
My goal is to remind us all to be proactive rather than reactive as it pertains to disaster preparedness and response.
Call to action: What are things that you can use to start a fire to keep warm if you had to if there was no power, electricity, or gas?
