..because I know you’re busy.

How many times has someone said that to you or you said that to someone?
Yes, I am busy. Between working my full-time job, then my side jobs of teaching and publishing, I don’t have a lot of time to do other things. That doesn’t mean that I won’t MAKE the time.
See, that’s the difference. If someone says to me, I know you’re busy so I didn’t want to bother you, that sounds like you making an excuse for me.
I can’t speak for everyone, but if I am too busy, I will tell you, but don’t automatically assume that since I am always busy that you are not important or that I won’t support you.
I hope this goes for others as well. Things are going to get busier, but I can multitask. I may not have time during the day to talk, but I will make time later that day or in the evening.
I say this to let you all know that time is the most expensive thing I can give someone. We need to stay connected and if we make excuses then we never will.
My call to action for you all is to stop making excuses of “I’m not going to reach out because I know you are busy.”
If you need me, I am here. I will make the time. Will you make the time for others? You never know how much a simple phone call can mean to someone. I know it has meant a lot to me.
