Social media has changed the way we communicate, learn, and share information. Unfortunately, it has also created opportunities for misinformation and disinformation to spread faster than ever, especially during public health emergencies and disasters.
Iβm excited to share that I contributed a chapter to an upcoming book exploring social media and the challenges of misinformation and disinformation!
Throughout my career in emergency nursing, public health, and disaster response, Iβve seen firsthand how information can influence decisions, shape public perception, and ultimately impact health outcomes.
One thing I continue to emphasize is that just because information is available doesnβt mean itβs accurate, accessible, or understood.
In an era when anyone can share information with the click of a button, understanding how misinformation and disinformation spread, and how we respond to them, has never been more important.
Iβm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this publication alongside other authors and to be part of a conversation that extends well beyond healthcare.
π The book officially releases November 11, 2026, but you can preorder your copy on Amazon NOW!

Whether youβre a healthcare professional, educator, student, public health practitioner, or simply someone who uses social media, I encourage you to check it out.
Because when it comes to public health and disaster preparedness, the information we share matters just as much as the actions we take.
