I really appreciated seeing this at ENA.
Thank you, Emergency Nurses Association, for intentionally recognizing both Military Members and Uniformed Services Members. That distinction matters.
The United States has eight uniformed services, the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps, and U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Not everyone who wears a uniform serves in the military, but each of these services contributes to the health, safety, security, and readiness of our nation.
As someone who has had the privilege of serving in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, seeing “Uniformed Services Member” represented alongside “Military Member” meant something to me.
Sometimes inclusion is as simple as making sure people can see where they belong.
Thank you, ENA, for recognizing the broader uniformed services community and the emergency nurses who have served, and continue to serve, across all eight services. 💜
Service Before Self.
