I loved seeing this post from my colleague and friend and getting to spend part of this week together at the National League for Nursing Summit.
One of the things I value most about healthcare is what happens when we stop working in silos. Nurses, PAs, NPs, physicians, paramedics, educators, public health professionals, we may come from different disciplines and bring different perspectives, but we are all working toward the same goal: better care for the people and communities we serve.
Throughout my career, some of the most meaningful work I have been part of has happened because people were willing to cross professional boundaries, learn from one another, and recognize the value each discipline brings to the table.
As an educator, that is something I think we have a responsibility to model for the next generation. If we want healthcare professionals to collaborate in practice, we need to teach, mentor, and lead that way too.
Happy National APP Week to all of the PAs, NPs, and advanced practice professionals I have had the privilege of working alongside. Thank you for what you bring to the team, and for continuing to remind us that healthcare is better when we work together.
