If you ever get the chance to go to New York City, I highly recommend you make your way to Ellis Island.
The other Ellis island highlights the view from one of the rooms where immigrants who had contiguous diseases or illness, were left to die.
Although my immigrant parents did not come to the country through Ellis Island, many people do.

I took this picture during a trip with some international friends and it hit them just as much as it does me, every time I visit.
I share this to remind everyone that we all have individual journeys to where we are today. Our ancestral journey influenced and impacted where we are and who we have become.
Let’s never forget the challenges others face.
