In this series, I will share items I bring on deployments that you may want to consider putting in your bag. Today, let’s focus on ways to stay connected.
With so many electronic devices to plug in, and limited power and space, you may have to prioritize what is the most important thing to charge. For me, it’s always my cell phone.
I always bring my own power strip with me so that I can plug in the things that I need charged and am only taking up one port.

How many times have you seen chargers and extension cords being added to one another just waiting for a fire to happen (yes, I have seen it before).

The other thing I keep in my bag to stay connected is an international charger as well. You never know where you may end up going, especially disaster strikes. This one has USB and C ports as well as a built-in adapter for international travel. It is also small enough to put in a shoulder bag as it doesn’t take up much space.

When you are responding to a disaster, having a work phone to be able to communicate is vital.
I acknowledge that that there are many other types of adapters or recommendations that others may have, but this information is for those that have never deployed or are thinking of volunteering for a mission.
This information is not all inclusive, but rather things that I have found useful in my over 15 years of responding to disasters.
Yes, there are other ways to get power and electronic charged which include solar batteries, but that is for another series…
