“…And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved the lives of all men”. 

This is one of my favorite verses in the Quran. What is unique to this verse is that it is also found in the Talmud, and Bible. I say this because we are more alike than we think.

The reason why this is one of my favorite verses is because it reminds us to put others first. As the month of Ramadan is halfway over, I am taking the time to reflect on what I did for someone else. Was someone suffering with something that I could have helped with?

I have literally given the shirt off my back to someone in need. I say this not to boast, but to reflect on how something as simple as a shirt can mean so much to someone who has nothing.

What is something we can all do to save a life? When was the last time you donated blood or plasma? You still got treated with all the snacks afterwards!

I am on a mission to encourage as many people as possible to register for National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), (formerly Be The Match).

We come from diverse backgrounds and cultures. There may be someone out there that needs a donor, but there’s no match due to ethnicity/ethnic background.

My call to action is to go to the website and order your kit. It is free and the swabs are easy to collect. Then send it back! It is as simple as that.

I pray one day that I am the match for someone who can have a chance of a better life.
