Palestine Children’s Day is observed on April 5th of every year. In 1995, Yasser Arafat started the commemorative day as a way of shedding light on the injustices and struggles that Palestinian children confront under occupation.

Although there are many pictures I could share highlighting the life of children in Palestine, it is too hard to imagine what my family had to go through and how, for generations, things have not changed.

Today, I want to give my respect to the workers who are caring for children that are beaten, abused and pulled out of the rubble. The children that are being identified by family members based on the clothes they are wearing because they have been beheaded.

Here’s to the mothers that have had to bury parts of their children due to bombs blasting their tiny anatomy.

Lastly, here’s to hope that one day, we will be celebrating Palestinian children, and watching them grow, rather than grieve over their loss of life.
