Numerous articles and reports on ticks and mosquitoes, which cause disease, are featured in national and global news, raising concerns about Malaria, Chikungunya, Lyme Disease, Dengue, Rocky Mountain Fever, and even Plague. Ticks and mosquitoes are vectors for these diseases and public health mosquito abatement programs are part of whole community prevention and mitigation.
With climate change (higher temperatures and increased flooding), these diseases are now becoming endemic (aka naturally occurring) across the US. The following curated resources (blogs, video shorts, and infographics) are from our NPDC website, under “Threats and Hazards,” and can inform your local efforts supporting children, parents, providers, and community members.
